Communities are, without question, central to our human experience. The Feast is spotlights Compassionate Disrupters; members of communities who are focused on local action and who are creating a powerful, unique ecosystem of solutions, globally. Join Sue Cooper and Karen Neil as they engage in another expansive conversation; the potential impact of Community Pharmacists. Karen Neil is a health coach, pharmacist, mental health first aider, and trustee with the Institute of Health Promotion and Education. In 2020, she was awarded a Global Health and Pharma Award: Most Innovative Health and Wellbeing Education Specialist (Midlands, United Kingdom). Community Pharmacists have a wealth of knowledge and experience. They are an untapped resource to offer consultations, health promotion and education, and community outreach opportunities to schools, parishes, community centres, and in their own community pharmacies. Initiatives such as this, when implemented at a local level and supported by local and national policy funding, become invaluable resources in which compassionate communities can flourish and thrive. Community Pharmacists are the epitome of the actions identified in the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion. The Charter was presented and signed in November 1986, at the First International Conference on Health Promotion, held in Ottawa, Canada, hence its title. This conference was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO). Five of the action areas for health promotion were identified as: 1. Building healthy public policy. 2. Creating supportive environments. 3. Strengthening community action. 4. Developing personal skills. 5. Re-orienting health care services toward prevention of illness and promotion of health. Please join us. Your presence is a valuable illustration of the power we have to co-create compassion in our communities. This is a free event. Registration is not required. We will be using the same zoom room as the Feast meditation
