Look to this Day is a poem by Kālidāsa, who some consider to be the greatest poet and dramatist in the Sanskrit language of India. His plays and poetry are primarily based on the Vedas, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the Puranas. Much about his life is unknown, only what can be inferred from his poetry and plays. His works cannot be dated with precision, but were most likely authored within the 4th–5th century CE.
Look to this day.
Look to this day.
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
These are all but experiences of time.
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!
Here are the Gratitude quotes:
“Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals. If you aren’t grateful for what you already have, what makes you think you’d be happy with more?”- Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns or rejoice because thorns have roses.”- Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” “They are wise people who do not grieve for the things which they have not but rejoice for those things which they have.” – Epictetus (Greek)
“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” ― Seneca (Roman)
“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” – A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
“Gratitude is one of the strongest and most transformative states of being. It shifts your perspective from lack to abundance and allows you to focus on the good in your life, which in turn pulls more goodness into your reality. – Jen Sincero
“I am happy because I’m grateful. I choose to be grateful. That gratitude allows me to be happy.” – Will Arnett, Actor
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And, because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
