Venerable Aileen has been studying Buddhism since encountering it in India on her way to Australia from her native Ireland in the 1990s. She became a Buddhist nun some 20 years ago, within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. She served the Tibetan Buddhist teacher Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo for many years, living at her nunnery in India and traveling across many countries with her.
Venerable Aileen has served in various dharma centres and worked also with Venerable Robina Courtin in bringing Buddhist dharma (teachings) into prisons. She offers guided meditation practices and teachings in a variety of settings, including various dharma centres, schools, prisons, and since covid, increasingly online.
She has completed a two-year Buddhist Chaplaincy Training offered through Upaya Zen Center, whose focus on Engaged Buddhism reflects her values. For the Feast, Eileen will be sharing a Loving Kindness Meditation to Develop confidence in our ability to show up with compassion and loving kindness is key to healing our own suffering. It is the foundation of the path that brings us home, to our heart, to genuine happiness that just naturally supports all other beings too.
