Clare’s meditations have been crafted to support those in caring roles to be truly present in each encounter; to listen deeply and make a difference to the lives of individuals, families and communities. She has no qualifications in meditation and mindfulness and offers practices in a spirit of humility, as a companion on a journey of discovery. With 35 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, Clare is the Chief Executive and Nurse Director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (qnis.org.uk; @QNI_Scotland), a charity founded in 1889 which exists to support nurses and midwives who work in our communities.

In 2016, Clare was awarded an Honorary Professorship in Nursing at Queen Margaret University and a Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Scholarship. Her vision is to unleash the creativity of nurses to be catalysts for positive change in the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. She co-created a transformational programme for community nurses with awareness based practices at its heart. It is called the Queen’s Nurse Development programme (the Queen in question being Queen Victoria). The programme has inspired over 130 nurses and midwives in Scotland to take their own self-care very seriously by finding a contemplative path that chimes with their values and traditions to become change makers to address injustice and inequity.

Clare works closely with Capacitar Scotland, which is linked to Capacitar International (capacitar.org), and body work trauma healing practices sit with mindfulness meditation at the heart of the transformational development offering.
